While furthering their education in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dennis and Yvonne Kilama found Christian community and friends who shared their heart for community building in Africa. With the already operating Kica Transforms Ministry in Uganda, a dream was begun to expand the scope and depth of the Ugandan ministry with an American counterpart. Thus, Kica Transforms, Inc became a registered nonprofit organization in January 2026. Kica, which means mercy in the Acholi language, encompasses the truth that people and communities worldwide are transformed by God’s mercy.
